bareMinerals’ bareSkin Pure Brightening Serum Foundation- What’s the Hype All About?

Last Updated on July 28, 2019 by Cassie Lyons

bareMinerals bareSkin Pure Brightening Serum Foundation is a liquid broad spectrum SPF 20 foundation. There are 20 standard size shades and 6 shades in travel size. The bareSkin foundation is meant to applied with the bareSkin Perfecting Face Brush that is sold separately for 28 dollars. The method of application is a bit different than most liquid foundations- you’re meant to squeeze out a drop of product into the center of the brush and then buff on, if you need more coverage you apply another drop to the brush and so on and so forth.

The Positives
This product was made hypoallergenic, dermatologist tested, and has no silicone, fragrance, water, or oil in the product. So you aren’t paying for fillers or pore-clogging agents in this liquid foundation. There is also vitamin C infused into the serum foundation for adding healing benefits. So at 28 dollars for a standard bottle, what could possibly be wrong with this product?

The Negatives
Boy oh boy, I read up about this foundation days before its release, and even went to stores over and over again looking for my color. To my disappointment everyone else was looking for my color too, so I ordered it online and bought the face perfecting brush along with it. Giddy with excitement I used the product as soon as I got it- and I was completely miserable. But this mustn’t have been the product I had been ogling over all week! So I blamed it on the time of day and not prepping my face appropriately before application. The next morning I read the instructions thoroughly, cleaned and prepped my face and applied the foundation exactly as I was instructed. Still- disappointed. I could almost cry with frustration, no matter how much product I used my face came out streaking, overly textured and sticky. Powder didn’t help, different primers didn’t help- nothing improved the outcome.

So What’s The Scoop?
bareMinerals bareSkin Pure Brightening Serum Foundation comes in 20 shades, contains all of the good and none of the bad, and is decently priced, so shouldn’t it be the perfect buy? Unfortunately, this product was severely disappointing. All the hype, but I got the most disgusting finish I’ve ever had with any foundation. It settled in my pores and wrinkles, left a streaky finish and it only got worse with wear. So you may try it for yourself, but be warned it’s not what is advertised.
