Splat Rebellious Color: Quick, Intense, and Cheap

Last Updated on July 28, 2017 by Cassie Lyons

Splat Rebellious Colors is a line of hair dyes that come in a variety of unnatural colors. There are semi-permanent, washable, and ombre dyes. I will be giving my opinion on the semi-permanent dyes, and I could narrow it down to one but I’ve tried nearly every color they have created so far, so I will give an overall review that applies to all of them! Each box comes with the tube of color, a bleach powder, peroxide to mix with the powder, gloves, and of course instructions.

The Positives
This dye is amazingly potent; giving you intense color for a decent amount of time especially considering it is a one tube colorant that requires no developer. There is no stench to this product either, and even the bleach that comes with it has a less noxious scent than most bleach combinations you can buy at Sally’s. It’s also a plus that the bleach and colorant are in one package for only 10 dollars.

The Negatives
This dye’s intensity is a benefit and also a flaw. The only way to truly get the color you desire is to have pre-bleached hair. You may get a variety of different shades of the color advertised depending on the color of hair you apply the colorant to, just don’t apply it to pure black hair. Another distasteful aspect of this dye is that it stains: everything. Your scalp, skin, clothes, furniture- but at least it will dye your hair too. But it will dye your belongs for days after the original dye. So you’ll need a special pillowcase, towel, and may even want to be careful of what hats you wear.

So What’s The Scoop?
Splat Rebellious Colors hair dye is a decent buy for if you want to dye your own hair a new, vibrant color. Compared to other dyes like Manic Panic, Splat lasts a very long time before it fades. It does come out within a few weeks, but for 10 dollars and an hour of your time, Splat gives you what you ask for at a decent price.
